Play is essential for the development of Children. The American Academy of Pediatrics says "Play is essential to development because it contributes to the cognitive, physical, social, and emotional well-being of children and youth." Play is so important that it is recognized as a human right for every child. Children are creative individuals who have great ideas for play. Often play is controlled by adults. Unfortunately, when play is controlled by adults children follow adults rules and guidelines and aren't as creative in their play. It is important to give children the tools and resources they need for play and then let them play on their own. At Temple Children's Museum we make play a priority. All of our exhibits are created to give children an environment to explore, play, and be creative. Children can come to TCM events and play however they want. We believe in the importance of play and encourage children of all ages to work together in play to create something fun.
